The Meghalaya Basin Development Authority (MBDA) will be giving a presentation on its innovative Integrated Basin Development and Livelihood Promotion (IBDLP) program that has been a success story in rejuvenating the local water capacity and empowering entrepreneurial capacity all across the State.
The IBDLP Program, launched in 2012 by the Government of Meghalaya, was aimed at creating an institutional ecosystem for ecologically sustainable and inclusive development in Meghalaya. Its aim was to put Meghalaya on a higher growth trajectory and sought to redefine the relationship between the citizen and state and bring a paradigm shift by moving towards a demand driven partnership model of development.
In less than a decade, IBDLP has become an unprecedented success model already. It has been a unique exercise of its type as the entire government of a state has rallied around a program and carried out the reforms necessary to achieve its goals.
In the seminar, “Sustainable Agriculture and India towards Total Food Security”, MBDA’s CEO Shri Sampath Kumar will be presenting his achievements as a case study, for other States, and in particular the 7 sister states of the North East and Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh and Jammu & Kashmir to take note of.
