World Food Trust (WFT)
World Food Trust (WFT) aims to assure a high level of hygiene, taste, food safety & control systems and animal & plant health, covering the entire food production and processing chains from farm to fork, as well as imported and exported food commodities and serves as a world platform for trade facilitation, partnerships, technology transfer and business services, thus promoting global engagements in food and agriculture sectors. Working through a combination of research inputs and knowledge dissipation, promoting use of science & technology, skills & practices, adequate monitoring of trade practices, and also traditions, WFT works with Governmental organizations, trade chambers and other non-Governmental organizations & associations and industry stakeholders on the agenda of business, policy and development in areas related to food (including agriculture), so as to have more effective, safe and result-oriented methods of livestock and crop farming and of conserving, processing, cooking and eating food.
WFT’s approach towards integrated Food Safety Management
WFT is conscious of every person’s right to know how the food that s/he or his/her pet or animals eats is produced, processed, packaged, labelled and reaches his mouth, how it works on his/her taste buds, gastronomy and health and for this reason deals with Governmental organizations, NGOs as well as stake holders covering all sectors of agriculture and food and feed chain, production, transportation, storage and consumption, through applying an integrated farm to fork approach.
WFT works to ensure a high level of protection of human health including that of farmers & workers in restaurants, hotels and food industry, science-based risk management and through raising health status and improving the condition of animals, in particular food-producing animals, while at the same time permitting intra-community trade and imports of animals and animal products in accordance with the appropriate health standards and bilateral obligations on national and international level.
WFT works to assure effective control systems and evaluate compliance with existing standards in food safety and quality, animal health, animal welfare, animal nutrition and plant health sectors, to suggest improvements/implementation of existing standards & legislations and to manage international relations with stakeholders, national and international concerning areas of mutual interest.
WFT works to ensure high levels of food hygiene, taste, transport, avoiding wastage and compliance of laws, legislations and control systems in daily activities so as to avoid the risks – whether it is food commodity producer, trader or exporter, meat or marine food player, restaurant, hotel or a service provider – and assist the regulating authorities in organizing official controls in order to verify that the activities of farmers and food-handling businesses comply with all requirements.
WFT works in the field of market development, infrastructure development, quality development and transport assistance and provides an interface between the hospitality industry, political leadership, academics, international associations and business & trade stakeholders so as to promote the interests of its members in particular and the entire food industry in general.
For its members, WFT works to keep them abreast with the latest information and trends, through research based inputs, statistical analysis and reports on various topics that have a direct impact on the industry, Government laws and regulations and to support them in creating a bigger reach of their products and growth of their businesses.
To promote high levels of food production, safety & culinary exercises and ensure compliance with regulations and social/religious norms and practices, WFT organizes events, promotion drives, workshops, training sessions and gamut of other academic and communication activities, including participation of members in international trade events, conferences and symposiums.
WFT thus aims to work with all sections of the society and their various needs related to food of all type and for all segments including animals, creating awareness related to food and its production, consumption, cooking, processing, technology and/or trading/marketing/selling, issues related to food deficiency, malnutrition, contamination, pests and diseases, safety, related subjects like irrigation, soil and water, dealing thereby with everything related to Food, including its growing, catching, generating, producing, cooking, processing, conserving, testing, developing, researching, servicing, marketing, importing, exporting, selling and promoting, to assist Government bodies and Non-Governmental organizations in related fields and to support and promote special food for religious purposes, for poor and needy, and so that safe, wholesome and hygienic food reaches one and all.
Summing up, WFT aims to fulfil its role as an apex policy think tank, trade facilitation body and development enterprise for food and agriculture sectors.
